Mylar, also known as BoPET (Biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate), is a polyester film made from stretched polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
Thickness Range: 19–50 μm (0.75–2.0 mil)
Common: 23 μm, 28 μm, or 35 μm (balance of cost and performance).
Tolerance: ±5% (tighter tolerances preferred for automated lines).
Width & Length:

Width: Matched to FRP sheet width (e.g., 1m–3m), slit tolerance ±1mm.
Length: 500m–10,000m rolls (minimizes splicing during production).
Surface Properties:

Release Side: Low-adhesion surface (silicone-coated or plasma-treated) for easy demolding.
Back Side: Often untreated or lightly treated to prevent roll blocking.
Surface Energy: 38–45 dynes/cm (release side), >50 dynes/cm (back side if adhesion needed).
Roughness (Ra): 0.1–0.5 μm (smooth finish for high-gloss FRP surfaces).
Thermal Stability:

Max Temp: 220°C (short-term), 150–180°C (continuous).
Shrinkage: <1.5% at 150°C (30 min) to prevent wrinkles during curing.
Mechanical Properties:

Tensile Strength: ≥150 MPa (MD), ≥250 MPa (TD).
Elongation: 100–180% (MD), 70–120% (TD).

BOPET film plays a mission-critical role in FRP sheet lamination, acting as the carrier for polyester resin and fiberglass composite material. Its importance extends far beyond a simple release layer – it directly impacts product quality, production efficiency, and cost control. 

Also using BOPET film with corona treatment or using heat sealing type film , it will stick to the FRP sheet and serve as a protective layer.
